Taking the time to track progress towards your waste management goals and targets will be worth the effort when it comes time to update management, educate employees, and evaluate the effectiveness of waste reduction initiatives.
Conducting one waste audit provides a good baseline measurement of your waste stream, but it is only a snapshot in time. Continuous auditing is needed to monitor your waste reduction progress and set reasonable reduction targets. While this might seem intimidating, it can be as simple as having the plan to perform physical waste sorts every few years and occasionally visually auditing your waste stream during the interim period.
